Otological Injuries Observed in Head and Neck Trauma in a Second-Line Hospital

Otological injuries are common during cervicofacial trauma. The aim of this study is to describe the epidemiological characteristics and map otological head neck This was an observational, descriptive, prospective conducted at ENT unit Referral Health Center Hospital in Mali from January 2017 September 2018. Patients with middle and/or inner ear due trauma were included. prevalence otologic 34.54% cases. mean age 25 years sex ratio 1.11. Students accounted for 42.10%. mechanism occurrence intentional assault 68.42% cases followed by road traffic accidents (15.79%). most functional signs hearing loss (68.42%), tinnitus (57.89%), facial paralysis 5.26%. Otoscopy showed tympanic perforation (47.83%), otorrhagia (21.05%) otoliquorrhea (5.26%). Rock fractures osteodural breach (10.53%) pneumencephaly found on a CT scan rock. evolution marked regression healing tympanum 45.45% Sequelae persisted form sensorineural deafness (17%). lesions observed varied. challenges our context felt three levels: improvement technical platform, long-term follow-up patients, cost care terms equipment. These responsible disabling deafness, source difficulty social school integration.
